May 8 is a memorable day in the Roman Catholic Church: Pope Leo XIV prays to Our Lady of Pompeii

Pope Leo XIV is no longer Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost.

He was elected by his peers on May 8*, 2025, to be installed as the 267th Pope in the history of  Roman Catholic church.

Our Lady of the Rosary- Our Lady of Pompeii

Pope Leom XIV's greeting to the enormous crowds waiting to greet him in St. Peter's square were "May peace be with all of you".  In Italian, "Che la pace sia con tutti voi."

His election announced with White Smoke, was made on May 8th, the feast day of Our Lady of Pompeii, a title of the Virgin Mary, and a special day of Supplication (a day of prayer) to her. This day is also commemorated as the anniversary of the foundation of the Pontifical Basilica of the Blessed Virgin of the Holy Rosary in Pompeii, Italy. 
Key aspects of May 8th in relation to Our Lady of Pompeii:
Bartolo Longo's devotion: Blessed Bartolo Longo, a key figure in the development of devotion to Our Lady of Pompeii, chose May 8th, as well as the first Sunday of October, for this Supplication.
Foundation of the Basilica: The day marks the anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone for the Basilica dedicated to Our Lady of Pompeii in 1876.

Feast Day: May 8th is celebrated as the feast day of Our Lady of Pompeii, a title of Mary related to the Marian shrine in Pompeii.

Rosary: The shrine in Pompeii is dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, and May 8th is a day to trust in Mary's intercession through the recitation of the Holy Rosary.
*Probably divinely inspirational or a coincidence, May 8th is also historic for being Victory in Europe Day, when the Allies of the Second World War in 1945, accopted the unconditional surrender of Germany.
Pope Leo XIV acknowledged the intercession of Our Lady of Pompeii in his first speech when he stepped onto the loggia:
In his first address as Pope Leo XIV, he acknowledged the Feast of Our Lady of Pompeii, which was celebrated on May 8, 2025. He spoke of Our Mother Mary's desire to be close to us and help us with her intercession and love. He also led the assembled crowd in the Hail Mary. Additionally, he mentioned that May 8, is the day of the Supplication to Our Lady of Pompeii.

Our Lady of Champion in Wisconsin is sacred where a Marion apparition is approved

Green Bay Wisconsin-   Bishop David L. Ricken announced that the national shrine will begin celebrating an annual Mass with the liturgical rank of solemnity every October 9. National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion, Wisconsin ,  A Marian shrine in rural northeast Wisconsin, the only shrine in the United States to be designated by the Catholic Church as an approved Marian apparition site, is changing its name.
