Our Lady of Champion in Wisconsin is sacred where a Marion apparition is approved

Green Bay Wisconsin-   Bishop David L. Ricken announced that the national shrine will begin celebrating an annual Mass with the liturgical rank of solemnity every October 9. National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion, Wisconsin ,  A Marian shrine in rural northeast Wisconsin, the only shrine in the United States to be designated by the Catholic Church as an approved Marian apparition site, is changing its name. During a press conference April 20, Green Bay Bishop David L. Ricken announced the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help will now be known as the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion . Two Easter spiritual gifts received from our good friend Father John Michalowski, s.j., who was a priest in Maine for many years, then a pastor in New Hampshire, an Ignatius retreat director in Weston, Massachusetts and now serves in a Jesuit parish, Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our Easter gifts from John included a stunning icon card depicting images from the Passion. Palm Sunday symbolism essay

Holy Week starts off with lots of palms – but Palm Sunday’s donkey is just as important to the story. An essay published in The Conversation : By Joanna M. Pierce , a religious studies professor emeritus at the College of the Holy Cross. For the Catholic Church and many other Christian denominations, the Sunday before Easter marks the beginning of the most important week of the year – “Holy Week,” when Christians reflect on central mysteries of their faith: Christ’s Last Supper, crucifixion and resurrection from the dead. Palm Sunday commemorates the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem shortly before the Jewish holiday of Passover.  According to the Christian Gospels, people lined the streets to greet him, waving palm branches and shouting words of praise.   Gabriel Rosset (b. November 28,1904-d. d. December 30 1974) Columbia Magazine Catholic Man of the Month is a saint for help to the homeless: Gabriel Rosset was born in 1904 in Champier, near La Côte-Saint-André, in Isère. He was born into a modest family of peasant origin. His father was a police officer. When a teacher in Lyon, France, he learned about the alarmingly high number of homeless men dying under the city's bridges after World War II.  He felt called to act.  The apostolate, he co-founded Notree-Dame des Sans Abri (Our Lady of the Homeless) - continues to serve thousands of people in need today. Gabriel Rosset was born in Champier, a commune in southeastern France. An exceptional student, he became a literature teacher at age 24.  Most of the 40-year teaching career was spent at the Lycee Alexandre Lacassagne in Lyon , where he later received the Legion of Honor award for education in 1965.
