Pope Francis appoints Father James Ruggieri as bishop of Portland, Maine: The Vatican announced on Feb. 13 that the 56-year-old priest from Providence, Rhode Island, will be ordained as the bishop of Maine’s only diocese.

Sacred relics of Saint. Bernadette of Lourdes will embark on a major yearlong U.S. tour from September 2026 through 2027 . Organized by the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, the 132-pound reliquary will visit nearly 140 locations—including churches, cathedrals, and shrines—beginning September 18, 2026, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
